Day 4. Dreams Can Come True. Our Sandbox
One of my favorite things to do is to cross things of lists. I'm sure most of you will agree with me. There is some kind of satisfaction in knowing that you presented a challenge to yourself, even if it's really small and insignificant, and fulfilled it.
One of the things I really wanted for a long long time was to build a sandbox. For the kids, of course, but also for myself (it's fun!). A large enough sandbox that will hold all three kids (and me!), with a closed water container next to it.
Since we moved back to Israel more than three years ago, I've been fantasizing on a sandbox like that, and finally it is ready!
The Man took a trip to the hardware store and came back with four pieces of wood. The Girl and I sanded together, then The Man painted them all. We screwed the pieces of wood together and using a staple gun stapled a thick plastic sheet to the bottom.
12 bags of sand later...
We filled water in what used to be the sandbox (and now looks lame and plasticky).
Kids are happy. Mommy is high...

So...now I need to peruse your site and find the story of where you lived BEFORE moving back to Israel :0)! It is a dream of mine to one day travel to Israel and just drink in the history!
ReplyDeleteYour family is adorable and I hope you get to enjoy the sandbox as well!
Just an FYI thing....do you have a cover for the area? We had a lovely sandbox many years ago {our kids are grown} and a neighborhood cat liked to "visit" every once in a while. A cover helps avoid little cat "left behinds" if you know what I mean.
Thanks for the Hppy 4th wishes as I am an American reader :)...from the lovely state of Pennsylvania!
Hi Donna, I can just tell you- we lived in Taiwan and China before coming back home. Israel is a beautiful country. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
DeleteWe do have a cover for a sandbox. There are many cats in the area, so we knew we'll have to get one. We use a large plastic sheet to cover it.
Thanks for stopping by!
I love the sandbox! I also have one of those lame plasticky one for my daughter and wish I had the ability to build a bigger one myself so I could play in it as well with her. They are tons of fun. Thank you for the 4th July greeting. Visiting from CO. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was actually easier than we thought. The most difficult part was to find out where's the best place to buy the wood...
DeleteThis is awesome! I'm so not handy but it looks really awesome! We have the the turtle one that you have to the side in the picture. Coming here makes me feel like I need to be more handy now :P
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was actually easy to build. I bet you can do it too!
